
Prof Kevin N. Nwaigwe is the Country Project Manager for the Southern African Renewable Heating & Cooling Training & Demonstration Initiative (SOLTRAIN+), Botswana. Prof Nwaigwe holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with specialisation in Energy and Power, and has over 20 years of university-level teaching and research experience.
Prof Nwaigwe serves as a consultant to the United Nations, where he served as the Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) of the Energy Transformation Pathway for the seventh edition of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7). He also served as an invited expert to the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) 2023 regional consultation. Similarly, Prof Nwaigwe currently serves as the chairperson of the technical committee for bioenergy and biogas standards (ARSO TC 68), African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO).
Prof Nwaigwe is a registered professional mechanical engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), Botswana, and belongs to several professional bodies including the Energy Institute, United Kingdom, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Council for the Regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN), South Africa Institute of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMech) and several others. He is also registered and accredited by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) as a Moderator and an Assessor.
