
Tahwa Peter is a dedicated advocate for gender equity in Botswana’s renewable energy sector. She serves as the Gender Manager for Botswana under SOLTRAIN+ (Southern African Solar Thermal Training and Demonstration Initiative) at CERC, where she ensures the meaningful inclusion and participation of women across all project activities. Her work focuses on integrating gender-responsive approaches into renewable energy training, demonstrations, and capacity-building initiatives nationwide.
Tahwa holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering, bringing expertise in systems optimization, efficiency, and sustainable project implementation- critical components in renewable energy development. She also has an academic background in MSc Engineering Management, strengthening her leadership, strategic planning, and policy engagement capabilities.
Notably, Tahwa pioneered the first women-only renewable energy training workshop within the SOLTRAIN project, facilitated by women trainers for women participants. This initiative strengthened technical capacity, built confidence, and advanced female participation in renewable energy nationwide. Her leadership supports inclusive energy systems.
