Ms. Karen Gibson

    Karen Gibson is a leading force in Botswana’s solar energy transition, blending technical expertise with strategic advocacy to advance inclusive, sustainable energy access. As Chairperson of the Solar Industry Association of Botswana (SIAB) and founder of So Solar (Pty) Ltd, she drives policy reform, private‑sector development, and community‑centred innovation. Her influence extends across national and international platforms, where she speaks on renewable‑energy policy, gender inclusion, and public awareness appearing at events such as SADC Sustainable Energy Week, Women in Energy Dialogue, Engineering Week, Green Building Week, and the ISEC Conference in Austria. As a SOLTRAIN+ Project Partner and Gender & Diversity Core Team member (2023–2026), she strengthens regional capacity through planning, demonstration systems, access‑to‑finance initiatives, and gender‑responsive programming.
