Mrs. Belinda Soko Kancheya

    Mrs. Belinda Soko Kancheya is an Expert in standardization and quality assurance with 21 years’ experience in standards writing and implementation at national, regional and international levels. She is the Director – Technical Services at Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) and is responsible for overseeing the standards development, training, information dissemination testing and certification services. Mrs. Kancheya is the immediate past Regional Coordinator for Southern Africa Development Community Cooperation in Standardisation (SADCSTAN), the Structure that is charged with the responsibility of harmonising standards in the SADC Region. Mrs. Kancheya has spearheaded the coordination of the harmonization of the Minimum Energy Performance standards (MEPS) for lighting, air conditioners and refrigerating appliances for the SADC Region through the SADCSTAN Technical Committee (TC) on Energy under the Secretariatship of Malawi with technical, material and financial support through the Energy Efficient Lighting and Appliances (EELA) Project in Eastern and Southern Africa. She is currently a member of the Steering Committee for the Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa (EELA) Zambia Country Window Project. Mrs. Kancheya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Zambia and a Master’s Degree in Project Management from the University of Lusaka and is a member of the Institute of Directors Zambia.
