Mr. Saidi Jabu Banda

    Mr. Saidi Jabu Banda is the Deputy Director responsible for Off-Grid Electrification in the Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining, Malawi, with more than 15 years’ experience in energy planning, off-grid electrification, and policy development supporting sustainable and inclusive energy access. Over the past decade, he has led several national initiatives on the Productive Use of Energy (PUE), rural mini-grid deployment, and renewable energy market frameworks ensuring communities not only access electricity but economically benefit from it through agro-processing, small-scale manufacturing, and service-based enterprises. Saidi has contributed to the development of Malawi’s National Energy Compact commitments and played a key technical role in advancing private-sector engagement models in mini-grids and solar for productive applications. He has presented in regional and continental energy platforms on various issues including energy policy, rural electrification and green investment facilitation.
    He holds a Master’s degree in Project Management, MSc in Energy Management and is currently advancing research in sustainable electrification for off-grid communities in Malawi.
