
Mr. Olympus Manthata is the Head of Climate and Environmental Finance at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), where he leads the Bank’s engagement with international and UN convention–based financing mechanisms, including the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). He spearheaded DBSA’s accreditation to both the GEF (as the first national agency to achieve this status) and the GCF. Under his leadership, the team has successfully secured substantial climate finance from the GCF.
Previously, as Fund Manager of South Africa’s National Green Fund, Olympus directed investments into high-impact projects delivering measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits. Olympus holds an MBA from De Montfort University, an MSc in Technology Management from the University of Pretoria, and an MCom in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town.
