Eng. Gift Bakumbi is an accomplished Mechanical Engineer and Energy Sector Executive with nearly two decades of experience in the sector. He currently serves as Acting Chief Operations Officer of BERA, where he leads the development of technical standards and regulatory instruments for the energy regulation in Botswana.
Eng. Gift holds a Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of Botswana. He is registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Botswana and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a Professional Engineer (Mechanical). His career spans leadership roles in the energy regulatory authority, renewable energy, gas manufacturing operations, and project management, with a proven record of enhancing operational efficiency and driving innovations in the energy sector.
He is a Six Sigma Green Belt and a Certified PPP Professional, with research interests in renewable energy, energy regulation, and sustainable development.
