Dr. Wale Aboyade is the Global Vice President, Public Policy & Government Relations at Sun King and a Fellow of the Energy Institute. He brings over 20 years of experience across the public and private sectors, spanning policy, engineering, finance, and the commercial delivery of climate-resilient energy infrastructure. Before Sun King, he held senior leadership roles at GEAPP, where he helped shape investment strategy in Africa and beyond, including support to initiatives such as Mission 300. He also led USAID’s energy and infrastructure portfolio across 12 Southern African countries, overseeing the deployment of more than $100 million in development assistance. Earlier, he served as Head of South Africa’s Climate Innovation Centre and co-founded Protergia Energy Nigeria, a distributed renewable energy company operating in West Africa. He holds degrees from Lund University and Stellenbosch University.
