Ms. Harini Naidu

    Ms. Harini Naidu is a Principal Officer at the Utilities Regulatory Commission (URC) of Seychelles, where she supports the advancement of renewable energy and energy efficiency through the implementation of policies, regulatory frameworks, technical standards, and related initiatives. Her work focuses on evaluating energy-efficient and renewable energy products for compliance with national standards, facilitating VAT exemptions for qualifying technologies, and supporting the development and improvement of appliance efficiency standards. She currently oversees a GIZ-funded project to adapt and mandate the SADC Harmonised Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in Seychelles, driving market transformation toward higher-efficiency technologies. Harini also plays an active role in regional collaboration, serving as Seychelles’ focal point for SACREEE and the EELA Programme.

    Prior to joining URC in 2024, Harini worked in environmental conservation and sustainable tourism initiatives with NGOs, supporting evidence-based decision-making and community engagement. She holds an MSc in Environmental Technology (Energy Policy) from Imperial College London and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Seychelles.
