Prof Kevin N. Nwaigwe is a Professor of Energy and Power, Clean Energy Research Centre, University of Botswana, and the Country Project Manager for the Southern African Renewable Heating & Cooling Training & Demonstration Initiative (SOLTRAIN+), Botswana. Prof Nwaigwe holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years of university-level teaching and research experience.
Prof Nwaigwe serves as a consultant to the United Nations where he currently serves as the Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) for the seventh edition of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7). He also served as an invited expert to the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) 2023 regional consultation.
Prof Nwaigwe is a renowned researcher who has attracted over £540,000.00 in research funding. He has served as an external examiner/assessor to several universities for both staff and graduate students’ assessment. He has over 70 peer-reviewed publications and has supervised over 10 graduate students. Prof Nwaigwe has served as keynote speaker and invited guest speaker to several international conferences and workshops. He has also served as a reviewer for several international journals and publications.
Prof Nwaigwe is a registered professional mechanical engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), Botswana, and belongs to several professional bodies including the Energy Institute, United Kingdom, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Council for the Regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN), South Africa Institute of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMech) and several others.
