Mrs. Thabile Joyce Nkosi, is responsible for the overall development and management of the Eswatini energy sector covering the petroleum, electricity, renewable, energy efficiency and energy planning. She has contributed immensely to the Eswatini energy sector, pioneering new legislation, policies and strategies, such as the National Energy Policy, 2018 and its Implementation Plan, Petroleum Act, 2020, Rural Electrification Access Fund and the first Eswatini Energy Masterplan 2034 which has since been reviewed to 2050, Short Term Generation Expansion Plan which guides the procurement of power projects from independent power producers. She plans and oversees key national energy projects uplifting the livelihoods of Emaswati, such as the rural electrification program which has seen 82% Emaswati connect to electricity. She works closely with the Energy Parastatals and key stakeholders locally, regionally and internationally to ensure sustainable development of the Eswatini energy sector and enhanced energy security. She holds BA degree in Economics & Statistics, Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Economics and Policy, and Master of Business Administration. She has undertaken a number of energy programs which include Energy Planning and Modelling, Regional Power Trade Program, Managing Power Sector Reform Regulation, to name some.
