Mr. Zweli Sapula is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the SADC-Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC), where he provides strategic direction, policy guidance and ensures the Centre’s mandate is met. With over 20 years of experience in development finance and infrastructure design, he is deeply committed to regional integration. Before joining SADC-DFRC, Sapula was the Head of Programme Development at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), where he managed infrastructure programs and third-party funds among others. He also served as a Task Team Specialist for the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Committee (2016-2018) and as Project Preparation Specialist at DBSA (2014-2016). Previously, he was the Project Development Finance Manager at Royal Haskoning DHV (2013-2014) and held roles at the National Empowerment Fund (2010-2013) and Absa Capital (2007-2010). Mr. Sapula’s earlier career includes roles in Asset Economics at BP, Business Analyst at First National Bank and Chemical Engineer and Process Engineer at NECSA. He holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town and a BEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pretoria, along with an INSEAD alumni qualification specializing in General Management, Business, and Marketing.
