
Mr Pelaelo Chorosi Kgomotso is currently the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA). In the past six years he has led the regulator’s electricity department in the development of various regulatory instruments such as the Rooftop Solar Program (RTS), Botswana National Grid Codes, Cost of Service etc and the annual tariff reviews of the national electricity utility and licensing activities. He has previously worked for national utility company for more than two decades where he held various senior positions in power systems operations and maintenance, planning, project management and procurement, technical services (power systems protection, metering, geographical information systems, transport services), customer services and revenue management. At that time some of the major works he was involved in were the Botswana Electricity Tariff Review (2009); Bankable Feasibility Study of a 200MW Concentrating Solar Thermal Plant (2010), Renewable Energy Feed in Tariffs for Botswana (2011), Establishment of the Energy and Water Regulator (2010).
He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Power Engineering (with Power System Economics) from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He is a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK) and the Engineers Registration Board (Botswana).
