Mr. Pascal Damian is a Technical Advisor at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and has been working in the energy sector of international cooperation since 2018, working on energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency in Madagascar and Ghana, with short-term assignments in South Africa, Mozambique and Vietnam. He is currently the technical lead for the Putting Energy to Work component implemented under the Energising Development (EnDev) programme, which promotes Productive Use of Energy (PUE) systems in Malawi. He is also co-chair of the GIZ Energy Efficiency Working Group in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Pascal holds an M.Sc. in Engineering and Business Management from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, having completed part of his studies at the University of Botswana. He started his career as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute in the energy efficiency competence centre. He is a certified expert in climate and renewable energy finance and power sector regulation. Pascal has also authored academic publications on Energy Efficiency Networks and Minimum Energy Performance Standards.
