Mr. Midas M. Sekgabo is a prominent figure in Botswana’s energy sector and government administration. He currently serves as the Director of the Department of Energy in Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy. In his current role as Director of Energy, Sekgabo is responsible for managing Botswana’s energy policy, implementing strategic pilot projects in the energy field, and overseeing the country’s security of supply in electricity and petroleum portfolios. He also focuses on ensuring a diverse energy mix through the adoption of new and renewable energy sources and the creation of a “Virtual Power Station” through energy efficiency measures. Sekgabo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Botswana and a Master of Science in Renewable Energy and the Environment from the University of Reading, UK.
