Dr. Migbar Assefa Zeleke is a senior lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Botswana. Born in Ethiopia, he developed a passion for teaching early in life, inspired by his elder sister. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arbaminch Water Technology Institute (now Arbaminch University), where he began his teaching and research career as a graduate assistant.
With over 22 years of experience in academia, Dr. Zeleke has held positions at several higher education institutions, including Hawassa University in Ethiopia. His expertise lies in computational mechanics, a field that encompasses thermal, fluid, and solid mechanics. He completed his PhD focusing on peridynamic formulation for coupled thermoelectric phenomena. His research aims to harness the computational aspects of thermoelectric materials, which can convert stored thermal energy, particularly waste energy, into electrical energy.
Dr. Zeleke has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his findings at international conferences, contributing to the field. His dedication to teaching and research continues to inspire students and colleagues alike, as he strives to advance knowledge and innovation in mechanical engineering.
