Dr Francois Rozon, holds a PhD in Engineering from Stellenbosch University and pursues his research at the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Acting Hub and Spoke programme coordinator. Francois is a seasoned management executive and business leader. He worked at leading management consulting firm McKinsey and Company from 1992 to 1999 in Canada, Australia, New-Zealand and South Africa, before joining BHPBilliton as a General Manager and Vice-President Business Development until 2002. He then became the long-term Managing Director of Appletiser for SABMiller, during which time the brand grew aggressively across several international markets. In 2016, he joined the newly formed anchor bottler, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, as Strategy and Business Development Director. In 2021, Francois redirected his career, returning to Engineering, to develop a framework for the adoption of renewable energy by industry. His first article, selected as a Feature Paper, proposed a long-term forecasting approach for renewable and sustainable energy technologies and was published in the Energies journal. A second article analysing the costs and benefits of solar thermal energy systems to provide steam to industry was published in Elsevier’s Solar Compass journal. He has also published a number of conference proceedings.
