
Ms. Angellah Wekongo has background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and works for CLASP in Nairobi, Kenya. She supports CLASP’s climate portfolio including developing national frameworks and regulations for more energy-efficient, high-performing appliances across Africa.
Angellah serves as the Africa Lead for the third phase of the Clean Lighting Coalition (CLiC). This initiative supports compliance to the Fifth Conference of Parties (COP 5) Minamata Convention decision on Mercury to phase out florescent lighting globally by 2027. Angellah also manages CLASP South Africa portfolio where CLASP support the government of South Africa in techno-economic market analysis to inform development of standards for water & appliances. Some of her other projects include training of compliance frameworks for EAC and SADC members states under the EELA project, leapfrogging to energy-efficient refrigerators and distribution transformers in Botswana.
Before joining CLASP, Angellah supported the implementation of the appliance standards and labelling programs and energy audits at Kenya’s energy regulator.
