Dr. Balázs Horváth is UNDP Resident Representative in Botswana since November 2021. UNDP contributes to Botswana’s development in three portfolios, aiming to assist in achieving ”a Prosperous, Green, and Just Botswana”. Before this posting, Balázs served as UNDP’s Chief Economist for Asia-Pacific. Prior to this, he worked as Director of UNDP’s Seoul Policy Centre, UNDP Country Director in South Sudan, Poverty Reduction Practice Leader in UNDP’s Regional Hub in Europe, and in various capacities in the International Monetary Fund. Balázs is Hungarian and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
