Debswana aims to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030. Under Ms. Mosate’s leadership Debswana has developed a decarbonisation pathway that considers the business scope 1 and 2 emissions. A number of technical studies have been conducted to explore possible decarbonisation solutions; including solar PV, wind power, energy storage and hydrogen technology. Pilots launched include light duty electric vehicles and biofuel at the mining operations. Debswana has also prioritised on energy efficiencies and a suit of initiatives have been implemented at its mining operations, resulting in over 10% reduction in energy intensity against a 2019 baseline.
Ms. Mosate has received various awards for delivering best in class safety performance being the 2022 Anglo American Albert Milton Safety Leadership, the 2022 International Awards of Business Communicators for Triple Zero Campaign and more recently the 2024 Women in Mining Game Changers Awards Excellence in Safety and Health Award. Ms. Mosate holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Botswana and an LLM from Newcastle upon Tyne University, UK.
