Ms. Julliet M. Mayisa is a Lecturer at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), in the Faculty of Built Environment, Property Studies and Urban Design department in Zimbabwe and has 5 years’ university teaching experience. As an urban designer, her interest lies on smart cities with more focus on the smart environment whose main emphasis is green energy and green buildings amongst other environmental issues. She is also keen on promoting the use of natural resources in design that not only promote the health of users but brings urban comfort amid the urban microclimates and other impacts of climate change.
Julliet is currently a member of the consultative team that is pioneering the review of the NUST master plan in pursuit of a Smart campus. Julliet is a holder of a Master of Urban Design, Honours in Urban Planning, Post Graduate Diploma in education and a Bachelors in Rural Development. Her teaching areas in urban design are: ecological based designs, urban design studio, sustainable property development, urban design methods and techniques. In teaching, she likes to encourage students to be critical thinkers and to explore new technologies for effective and efficient teaching and learning of urban design.
