Prof. Leboli Zak Thamae is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics & Electronics at the National University of Lesotho (NUL), a former Head of Department, a former Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology, and the current Coordinator of the NUL’s Energy Research Centre. He holds a Bachelor of Science from NUL, and a Master of Science and a PhD from the University of Manchester (in UK). He facilitates several courses in the Master of Science in Sustainable Energy at NUL, including Energy Planning & Policy and Sustainable Energy Solutions for Communities, and coordinates the SOLTRAIN+ Project in Lesotho.
Prof Thamae is the current Chairperson of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Committee of the Council on Higher Education in Lesotho. He previously served as a Board Member and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Lesotho Electricity Regulator. His research interests cover various applications of computational modelling including energy/electricity demand and supply, electrification network planning, hybrid renewable energy systems and integration of renewable energy generators into the electricity grid. He has made several presentations and published articles and technical reports in reputable international conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
