Fuad Farzalibeyov is the Director of Energy, Minerals and Environment of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). His professional experience spans over twenty years with a diverse background of multilateral affairs in various positions as a public and international civil servant. Prior to joining the regional intergovernmental organization – ECO, he long served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, lately holding positions of the Head of Division and Deputy Director of Economic Cooperation Department. Fuad also worked in the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in Italy and Turkey for eight years. His portfolio primarily encompassed multilateral economic cooperation, energy and environmental diplomacy.
In his current role, Fuad is dedicated to propelling the ECO towards sustainable energy, stronger environmental and climate action, green growth and resource efficiency agenda in the ever-evolving just transition landscape. His skill set entails strategic planning, operational excellence and programme management.
He received his PhD at the Sapienza University of Rome in Italy. He completed his MA (Hons) in Political Science from the Public Administration Academy of Azerbaijan and Bordeaux Institute of Political Studies, and BA (cum lode) in international relations at Baku Institute of Public Administration and Political Science.
